Part A: Hospital Insurance that covers:
- Inpatient hospital and rehabilitation facility care, including X-Rays, surgeries, and radiation treatment. Skilled nursing facility, hospice, and home health care. Most people won't pay a premium for Part A.
Part B: Medical Insurance that covers
- Outpatient hospital and home health care. Ambulance, doctor, and preventative care. You will pay a monthly premium for Part B; this is usually around $145 depending on your income. The premium is usually taken out of your social security check.
Part C: This is an alternative to the Original Medicare
- Part C is a medicare advantage, also known as MA or MAPD. Medicare advantage covers all part A and PArt B benefits; this also may cover prescription drugs. It can offer dental and vision coverage or a fitness membership like silver sneakers. May require you to see certain doctors or specialists. It has a cap on out of pocket maximum, usually around $6500 in a network.
Part D: Medicare Prescription Drug Plans.
